When such mantras were only heard in the boardroom of foreign multinational companies, an individual founded his intercity bus transport company on this very concept and uniquely set the business apart. The founder asked this transformational question at inception: “why can’t we have aviation experience on road travels?” The pursuit of answers to this question gave birth to ABC Transport plc ( https://www.abctransport.com ), which has permanently redefined the subsector in which it operates.
Almost thirty years later, totally unaware of the background story of ABC, the co-founder of Transita put together a smart team to bring the latest innovation to the same Road Transportation sub-sector. The objective was to change the paradigm in how intercity city bus services are accessed. Looking at the aviation and other service industries for inspiration and best practices, the team evolved a platform that resulted in radical improvements in the convenience, cost-effectiveness, and safety of road travelers. Little wonder therefore that when the concept was pitched to Transport Service Providers (TSPs), ABC was the very first company to sign onto the Transita platform and fully integrated their booking system with ours.
Founded on February 13, 1993, as an off-shoot of Rapido Ventures, ABC transport has one of the largest range of routes in the Nigerian travel industry covering various cities within and outside Nigeria such as Lagos, Aba, Owerri, Port-Harcourt, Abuja, Enugu, Onitsha, Umuahia, Jos, Mbaise, Bolade, and Accra (Ghana). Their buses used for intercity transportation services are categorized into coaches (including Executive Express), Sprinters, Shuttle services. These busses of different models have capacities ranging from 14 to 52 seats.
